Breaking News: Ohio State Buckeyes make shocking addition to team

Georgia star and Buckeye target ‘getting closer to a decision’ after Ohio State visit

A top prospect in Georgia who visited Ohio State over the weekend and has the Buckeyes among his top schools is getting closer to a decision.

Calhoun (Ga.) 2025 tight end Emaree Winston has been to Ohio State at least four times in less than a year and a half. He worked out at one of the Buckeyes’ one-day camps in June of 2022 and earned an Ohio State scholarship offer. Since then, Winston has been to Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ spring game when Winston spent the weekend in Columbus as well as for the Ohio State-Michigan game and then this past weekend for the Ohio State-Michigan State game.

“It went real good,” Winston told Bucknuts when asked about his most recent visit with the Buckeyes. “(Cade) Stover (impressed me). No. 8 is insane! He had eight catches in the first half. They’re recruiting me as an H-back, basically like Stover.”

The Buckeyes currently have commitments from three 2024 defensive linemen in defensive end Eddrick Houston as well as defensive tackles Justin Scott and Eric Mensah. They would like to add at least one and possibly two more to that list.

At the end of October, the Buckeyes reached out to Nebraska defensive line commitment Carlon Jones from Bay City, Texas., and offered him a scholarship. Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson made the offer.

Jones quickly scheduled an official visit to Ohio State for the weekend of November 11 when the Buckeyes hosted Michigan State. However, because Bay City had a game on Saturday, Nov. 11, the visit had to be postponed.
