Totally cool’: 26-year-old explains ‘fantastic’ reason he chose to leave Leeds, it makes sense
Rasmus Kristensen was one of eight senior Leeds United players to use the relegation loan clause in the summer – and he has explained why he chose to exit Elland Road in an interview with Danish site TV2.
Kristensen, 26, joined Roma on a season-long loan alongside Diego Llorente. Luis Sinisterra, Marc Roca, Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison and Max Wober have also left Elland Road temporarily.
While Sinisterra, Roca, Koch and Llorente were always expected to jump ship and get out of Leeds as soon as they could – Kristensen was seen as one that might potentially stay with us in the second tier.
The Denmark defender has been speaking to TV2 having travelled to his home country ahead of this international break’s fixtures. He explained why he chose to leave Leeds – to work for Jose Mourinho.
“For me, he is a coach who is at the very top. So of course I wanted to try to work with him. So far it has been totally cool and educational,” the Leeds defender continued when discussing his Roma decision.

Wober’s move, for example, to join Gladbach makes less sense. Of the eight players that are listed above, five have joined clubs in Europe. Aaronson for example, has joined a Champions League club.
Kristensen will have chosen Roma thinking he would be playing in the Europa League – only to be omitted from the squad registration. To work for Mourinho is a big opportunity, hardly one to reject.
