FULHAM EYE £13M JANUARY DEAL AND TOTTENHAM HAVE MADE TRANSFER POSSIBLE
Fulham are reportedly looking to bring Denmark international Victor Nelsson to the Premier League after the £13 million-rated centre-back confirmed his intention to leave Turkish giants Galatasaray.
This is the sort of story that tends to emerge during international breaks.
Manchester United fans will recall that, whenever club football was put on pause, Mino Raiola and Paul Pogba tended to do their talking, and Galarasaray’s Victor Nelsson appears to have taken a leaf out of their playbook, going public with his desire to leave the Super Lig champions.
Fulham move for Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson
“There has been interest and offers from clubs that I really want to join. I’d have liked to have moved,” Nelsson told Danish publication Tipsbladet. “I’ve had some talks with them.
“I informed (Galatasaray) after the last international break that I don’t want to extend my contract. I have three years left on my contract, and I just can’t see myself extending another year.”
Fortunately, with his current deal running until 2026, Galatasaray are still operating from a position of power. Then again, do the Istanbul giants really want to fight tooth and nail to keep a player who has clearly had his head turned by interest from elsewhere, Nelsson confirming that he was ‘very close’ to joining Sevilla before the September deadline?
Fulham given Tottenham boost
Whether the Europa League holders return in January remains to be seen. If they do, Sevilla could face competition from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on the £13 million-rated former Copenhagen man, and may have already been given a leg up from their neighbours from down the road (Takvim).
Nelsson, after all, has lost his place in the Galatasaray XI since Tottenham Hotspur sold Davinson Sanchez to Turkey in September.
25-year-old Nelsson, a right-footed centre-half, would likely replace Tosin Adarabioyo at Fulham. Tosin will become a free-agent in July 2024.
