Burnley: New Clarets signing out through injury
The Clarets have a big squad after making 15 summer signings…
Following their return to the Premier League, Burnley added a number of new players over the summer, but one of them appears to be injured.
What recent Burnley injury news is there?
With four losses in their first five league games this season, the Clarets and Vincent Kompany have had a trying time adjusting to life back in the top division. Burnley is now in nineteenth place after picking up a point against Nottingham Forest away from home and losing to Manchester City, Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Manchester United.
Darko Churlinov, Michael Obafemi, Victor da Silva, Hjalmar Ekdal, and now Johann Berg Gudmundsson have all been out with injuries during the past several weeks for them.
The team added 15 new players over the summer, including Nathan Redmond, who has been absent from the squad for the past two games after making three league substitute appearances and starting the EFL Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.
Redmond’s predicament was discussed by Sport Witness in the previous 48 hours in response to a Turkish report that said he left Besiktas supporters “disappointed” by choosing to join Burnley rather than extend his contract.
They added that Redmond’s world has ‘fallen apart’ with his lack of playing time with the Clarets, but journalist Gokmen Ozcan has personally spoken to the player and explained that his absence has been due to injury: “I talked to Nathan Redmond. He said that he could not be in the squad for the last matches of his club, Burnley, because he was injured.”
