DONNELLY, A FORMER BLACKBURN ROVERS BOSS, IS NOW THE LFC MANAGER AT CARDIFF CITY
Gemma Donnelly, a former manager of Blackburn Rovers, has been named Cardiff City LFC’s next first team manager.
On their official club website this afternoon, the Welsh club posted the news.
Donnelly worked at Blackburn Rovers for more than 15 years in a variety of positions. Prior to being promoted to the position of first team manager at the Lancashire club, Donnelly oversaw the Blackburn Rovers Center of Excellence. She assisted the team in moving up the ladder and into the Barclays Women’s Championship, where they have had a regular spot since 2019.
Donnelly left Blackburn Rovers in April in search of a new challenge, and she is now a member of Welsh team Cardiff City LFC.
After appointing Donnelly as Cardiff City LFC manager, co-owner Damien Singh said “These past weeks have been nothing short of transformational. Gemma joining us is not just an appointment; it’s a testament to where we’re headed. Her two decades of experience will undoubtedly steer us towards a brighter, more competitive future.”
Donnelly’s appointment forms part of an exciting new era at Cardiff City LFC. The club’s new owners are aiming for Barclays Women’s Super League and UEFA Women’s Champions League football in the future. For now, Donnelly must try to guide her side up the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division table.
