CARDIFF CITY LOANEE DELIVERS KORTRIJK’S FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Kortrijk fans can finally celebrate three points after beating Cercle Brugge 2-1 on Friday night. After a goalless first half, Abdoulaye Sissako’s fine work was finished off by Dion De Neve. With Cercle pushing for an equaliser, former Arsenal youngster Ryan Alebiousu showed a fine turn of speed to race down the right flank and cross for Isaak Davies to finish off. The 22-year-old Welshman grabbed his second goal of the season since joining Kortrijk on loan from Cardiff City.

Cercle did grab one back to rekindle the nerves for the hosts, with Leonardo Da Silva Lopes scoring early in added time. However, the side from Brugge could not find an equaliser in the eight minutes remaining in added time. Kortrijk held on to get their first win of the season.

After going winless in eight games the club parted ways with Ed Still and hired Glen De Boeck. Next up for Kortrijk is another relegation candidate in Westerlo, who have also struggled to find three points this season. They face Genk away on Sunday afternoon.
