Dylan Stitt and Sam Anderson, two adolescents from Northern Ireland, have signed new two-year scholarships with Kenilworth Road, according to Premier League team Luton Town.
The talented pair joined the Hatters in the summer, just after the team was promoted to English football’s top division.
Stitt, a midfielder, formerly played for Linfield, while Anderson, a forward, was a member of the Dungannon Swifts, two Irish League teams that have built a reputation in recent years for bringing in young players from other countries.
Stitt, who was born in Belfast, began playing football at St. Oliver Plunkett when he was five years old. Before turning 11, he also played gaelic sports with St. Galls.
He advanced with the Blues, earning a spot on Northern Ireland’s youth international team, and scoring a goal against
Anderson, a forward, joined Town in the summer on a two-year scholarship and a one-year professional agreement, similar to Stitt.
Anderson, a player with a keen eye for goal, made his Irish Premiership debut for Dungannon in their penultimate game of the previous season.
The former City of Armagh High School student has played for Northern Ireland’s Under-17 team, and he was a regular under Gerard Lyttle before he became assistant manager at Cliftonville.
On the day they were signed, Keith Gillespie, who works with Brian Adair at the One Two football agency to represent the players, was standing behind Stitt and Anderson. Gillespie is a seasoned Premier League player.
For Sam, Dylan, and their families, it is an exciting and proud time. They are two young athletes with great potential. They also exhibit excellent dispositions.
