Sean Dyche: Everton woes show difficulty of life in Premier League | The Independent

Manager Everton was contacted before to Dyche Deal’s resignation.

Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, is under pressure, and the news that Marcelino is about to leave Marseille won’t make things any easier for him.

The news that Marcelino is leaving his position as manager of Marseille may spark some intrigue within Everton.

That is according to French newspaper L’Equipe, who report that Marcelino has decided to leave Marseille.

OM, Marcelino kicked out by a club legend

It’s stated that Marcelino has already communicated his decision to the Marseille squad with an official announcement expected soon.

Marseille take on Ajax on Thursday but Jean-Pierre Papin is expected to be in the dugout with Marcelino already on his way out.

Everton looked into Marcelino deal this year

The news may be of interest to Everton after they explored a deal for Marcelino earlier this year.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported in January that Everton had contacted Marcelino as they targeted a replacement for Frank Lampard.

Everton went for Sean Dyche in the end but Marcelino’s availability may just spark that interest once again.

Results for Marcelino haven’t even been too bad; five games unbeaten to start the season with two wins and three draws.

Marseille sit third in Ligue 1 but Marcelino has decided that he has had enough; which is quite damning of Marseille given everything he put up with at Valencia.

Sean Dyche already feeling the pressure

Sean Dyche won’t exactly love hearing the news of a manager becoming available months after Everton initially targeted him.

Dyche is feeling the pressure at Everton after a poor start to the season.

Five games, no wins, one draw and four defeats, scoring just twice and conceding nine goals.

Everton look to be in a relegation battle once again and if Dyche can’t turn things around, he may well go the same way as Marco Silva, Rafael Benitez and Lampard.

Add in that Everton are now in the process of being taken over by 777 Partners, adding more doubt to Dyche’s future as they could chase their own appointment.

If the likes of Kevin Thelwell stay at Everton though, that interest in Marcelino may yet be resurrected down the line.
