“The NFL Will Humble You Every Step Of The Way,” 49ers Edge Rusher Says In Response To Team Losing Back-To-Back Games
After winning their first five games to start the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers have now lost back-to-back games dramatically. While some may look at these past two weeks as cause for concern, 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa doesn’t seem too worried.
“The NFL will humble you every step of the way,” Bosa stated per NBC Sports Bay Area. Bosa alluded to the fact that the 49ers may have taken their foot off the gas a little in recent weeks after starting 5-0 and gaining confidence that they’re playing how they need to.
“…you kind of get that confidence that you are who you need to be, but the NFL does that. Good players, good schemes, and we’re going to face another good team this week, so we gotta be ready,” Bosa added.
Uncharacteristically, the 49ers had three turnovers in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football in Week 7. Quarterback Brock Purdy threw two interceptions and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey fumbled on the 49ers’ first possession of the night.
The Vikings had an impressive performance led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, who broke out in a big way in a primetime matchup.
Cousins completed 35 of his 45 passes for 378 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Addison hauled in seven of his 10 targets for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He briefly left the game due to a cramping issue but was able to overcome it and return.
At 5-2, the 49ers are still in first place in the NFC West and only one game back of the Philadelphia Eagles for first place in the conference, so there’s no need to panic just yet and Bosa made it clear that the 49ers will be ready to bounce back in Week 8.
Bosa and the 49ers will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 with hopes of avoiding a third consecutive loss.
