Alan Shearer gives emphatic one-word reaction after seeing what happened in Luton 1-1 Wolves
Wolves played out a 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Saturday, and as is often the case, there was a controversial incident in the game.
Wanderers are currently 16th in the Premier League table, and three points clear of the relegation zone.
But some Wolves fans are starting to feel a bit aggrieved about the club’s position.
Because things have gone against Wolves, and it happened again on Saturday.
A penalty was awarded for a handball by Joao Gomes, but the ball had deflected off his leg and onto his arm which was outstretched.
After the game, Gary O’Neil slammed the decision – and it would appear he was sympathy from the Premier League’s greatest ever goalscorer Alan Shearer…
Alan Shearer strongly agrees with Gary O’Neil about Wolves penalty incident vs Luton
After the game, O’Neil slammed the decision to award a penalty against Gomes, after the ball had ricocheted onto his arm off his own leg.
There has been widespread criticism of the call by the referee and the VAR.
On Match of the Day, Danny Murphy branded it the worst call he has seen so far this season.
And today, Alan Shearer took to Twitter to express his feeling about the decision.
He shared a video clip of O’Neil speaking about the incident, and said ‘YES’ to the question of ‘Does Gary O’Neil have a point’.
Wolves must improve, but the officiating is a joke
It is very clear that Wolves are not good enough at the moment.
Improvements need to be made at both ends of the pitch.
But the pressure is cranked up tenfold because of refereeing incompetence.
Wolves could very easily be several places higher in the table by now had the correct decisions been made. The Andre Onana call at Old Trafford was another embarrassing show.
