‘A master tactician’ – Coventry City vs West Brom prediction: The72
The72’s writers offer their Coventry City vs West Brom prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.
Coventry City host Midlands rivals West Brom in the Championship on Monday night, with the Sky Blues looking to avoid what would be a third-straight defeat in the league.
Mark Robins’ side have lost their last two with the last being a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Rotherham United on Wednesday night, leaving them in 20th place of the table.
West Brom meanwhile are up in 6th. Carlos Corberan recently celebrated a year in charge at The Hawthorns, with his Baggies side having lost just one of their last eight after 2-0 win over QPR in the week.
Luke Phelps
“Coventry have had a strange season so far. Before their defeat at Bristol City last weekend, they looked like they’d turned a corner and were proving tough to beat. But defeat at Rotherham suggests otherwise.
“West Brom are bang in form right now. Corberan is proving himself to be a master tactician with the Baggies, who have a growing injury list still.
“I can’t go against West Brom right now; I think they’ll win, though I think this will still be a close and exciting game.”
James Ray
“Coventry’s form is a bit concerning now. They’re still taking time to find their feet and while the table is tightly-packed, few would think they’d be down in 20th place after 13 games.
West Brom on the other hand, Corberan is getting every last drip out of this side. The ranks are being depleted by injuries every week but they’ve still been putting together a good run, rising to the play-off spots.
“On form I’d give the edge to the visitors but Coventry have been prone to a draw at home while West Brom draw a few on the road too. For me, this one ends level.”
