‘Couple of bits’ – Paul Warne issues fresh Derby County injury update ahead of Exeter clash
Latest Derby County news as Paul Warne shares the injury latest as the Rams prepare to host Exeter
Derby County will “need to decide” on the fitness of two players before the game against Exeter City on Tuesday evening.
Warne revealed in his pre-match press conference that there are “a couple of bits of soreness” in the squad, with decisions to be made over their immediate fitness. He also confirmed that recent absentees Joe Ward and Callum Elder have more training under their belts.
Other than that, Warne says there are “no dramas” when it comes to his team selection for Tuesday evening. That is positive news for the Rams, as they look to turn around their poor start to the season.

“There’s a couple of bits of soreness which we need to decide on,” Warne said. “The two lads coming back in, Joe Ward and Callum Elder, have had some more training but there are no dramas in regards to selection.”
Looking ahead to the game on Tuesday, which comes with a quick turnaround from the weekend, Warne said: “As a footballer you want to feel great all week if you win whereas if you lose you want to play straight away and get it out of your system.

“We need a good performance and we need to start the game well. Exeter outplayed Wigan on Saturday and had something like 30 attempts at goal, but the scoreline will say different as they lost 2-0. There’s a lot more to the game than just the scoreline.”
On-loan forward Tyreece John-Jules remains sidelined by a quad injury but is closing in on a return to training. Midfielder Liam Thompson (also quad) is still out of action, along with long-term absentees Jake Rooney (knee) and Elliot Embleton (quad).
