Source Reveals Tyron Smith Injury Plan for Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions: Dallas Cowboys ‘Looking Ahead’

FRISCO – When the Dallas Cowboys’ offense line is right – “best five,” fully healthy and riding the gift of continuity – it often still plays at an elite level, arguably led by future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith.

That’s been the case for the better part of the last two months, and Dallas vaulting to 10-4 with QB Dak Prescott playing like an MVP? The O-line deserves some credit for that.

But now – even as Tyron, 33, has been managed through the year by taking off time at practice (“Tyron Wednesdays”) – that run is being threatened.

A team source on Saturday morning, a day ahead of Dallas’ visit to the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Eve, tells CowboysSI.com that barring a marvelous medical turnaround, the back soreness that Smith is experiencing almost surely means he’s out for this game.

“We’re probably looking ahead at next week” for a return to the lineup by Smith, the source told us.

In-house, the Cowboys are even weighing whether Smith – who is listed as “doubtful,” a category that all season long for Dallas’ injured players has resulted in a game-day DNP – should bother traveling on the team plane due to the issue.

Zack Martin (quad) is “questionable” but is planning on playing, as is safety Malik Hooker (ankle). Dallas has ruled out Johnathan Hankins (ankle), and soon enough we’ll know if Tyron Smith will officially join him.

We discuss all of that in our “Top 10 Takes” on the Fish Podcast and the Fish Report. Join us, Cowboys Nation, with a watch and a listen!
