Jerry Jeudy Trade Details: Full Package, Players And Impact Of Maligned WR’s Trade Out Of Broncos

The Denver Broncos’ reportedly had a high asking price for their two-star wideouts ahead of this year’s draft.

Receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy were widely mentioned in trade rumors throughout the offseason, but new head coach Sean Payton made it clear that the Broncos were keeping both players.

I see and read just like everyone else… but we’re not trading those two players.

With the Broncos sitting at a disappointing 1-5 heading into Week 7, they figure to be sellers ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline.

If that ends up being the case, Sutton and Jeudy will certainly attract plenty of interest on the open market. The Broncos are going to listen to offers “on pretty much anyone.”

Breer added that the ahead of the 2023 draft, Denver sought early-round picks for their top two wideouts:

Denver will listen, as Payton said, on pretty much anyone, and that puts receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton in the spotlight. The price to start a serious discussion on Jeudy predraft was a first-round pick, and on Sutton it was a second-round pick. Sutton is due the prorated remainder of his $14 million base for this year (there’s $9.33 million left now) and is under contract for $27.5 million

Jeudy had a career year on an awful Broncos team last year, recording 67 receptions for 972 yards and six touchdowns.

He’s off to a tough start in 2023, however, with only 20 catches for 222 yards and zero scores in five games. “Hot” Take: The Broncos should trade Jerry Jeudy over Courtland Sutton.

The 28-year-old Sutton has 25 catches for 275 yards and four touchdowns. He had his best season back in 2019, earning a Pro Bowl nod after racking up 72 catches for 1,172 yards and six touchdowns.

Sutton signed a four-year extension with the Broncos worth $60.8 million in the midst of the 2021 season.

The Denver Broncos could be about to get in fire sale mode, and receiver Jerry Jeudy is one name being linked with a move away from the embattled franchise.

After the first six weeks, the Broncos’ offense hasn’t looked good as they rank 17th in scoring average. With the team sitting at 1-5, many think that Denver could be in the market to stock up on draft picks.

This means that players could be shopped around to other teams, and one name that’s popped up again is Jerry Jeudy.

With the list for Jeudy’s services thought to be rather long, there appears to have been some movement as teams are inquiring about the receiver’s availability with the Oct. 31 trade deadline looming.

According to Destin Adams of AtoZSports.com, the Indianapolis Colts, an AFC South team, and the Broncos have held talks over a possible trade.

Exactly what Denver would want in return is unknown, but given that teams know the franchise wants him out, there is a small chance that the Broncos will get market value for their receiver.

With the offense struggling to put up points, naturally, the receivers have struggled to have big games as a result. While Jeudy is third on the team for yards (222) and second in receptions (20), there is a thought that given he was a first-round draft pick, he should be taking over games.

His best game was an 81-yard, five-catch effort against the Miami Dolphins in the 70-20 embarrassment.

Additionally, Jeudy hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season in his first three seasons, which, for a first-round pick, isn’t ideal. Broncos coach Sean Payton insists Denver isn’t “looking” to be a seller ahead of the in-season trade deadline, even while dealing pass rusher Randy Gregory to the 49ers and reportedly preparing to part ways with Frank Clark.

Other NFL teams don’t believe Payton is done moving big names, with wide receiver Jerry Jeudy also expected to be dealt before Oct. 31.

At least one NFC team has already “held internal discussions” about a potential trade for Jeudy, according to Matt Lombardo.

Payton said early in the 2023 offseason the Broncos would not be trading either Jeudy or fellow wideout Courtland Sutton.

But the former first-round pick has been the subject of trade rumors dating to 2022, when Denver also struggled early in the year. He missed seven games due to injury in 2021 but topped 850 receiving yards in both 2020 and 2022.

He’s yet to score a touchdown for the Broncos this year, despite quarterback Russell Wilson’s statistical resurgence, totaling 17 catches for 208 yards during the team’s 1-4 start.

Where might Jeudy end up, if the Broncos actually move the receiver ahead of the deadline? Adding Jeudy could allow the team to be even more patient with youngster Jameson Williams.

If they’re actually gonna give up picks to help Bryce Young’s supporting cast this year, it makes sense that it’d be for someone like Jeudy, who’s young enough at 24 to grow with the new QB. Coach DeMeco Ryans, a fellow Alabama product, could see Jeudy as a discounted but legit weapon to shepherd Stroud’s growth under center.

The Titans should probably be selling rather than buying, but who’s to say Mike Vrabel will let that happen?
