Shohei Ohtani Will Not End Up With an Angels AL West Rival After All

Angels fans everywhere should be rejoicing after this update.

The Los Angeles Angels are expected to lose two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this winter after years of mediocrity with him on the roster. Most fans have accepted this fact, but there has been talk about him potentially joining a few AL West rivals.

However, it now seems that it won’t be the case anymore! MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that three teams have taken themselves out of the running for Ohtani. This includes the AL West rival Texas Rangers, as they are looking at other players now.

This is massive news for the Angels, even if he doesn’t re-sign with them. At least he won’t stay in the AL West and torment the Halos for years to come.

Texas was a favorite at one point, but thankfully they are looking elsewhere. Angels fans everywhere should be rejoicing after this update, and be thankful that he is going in a different direction.

This is the second AL West team to be taken out of the running for his services, as the Seattle Mariners dropped out weeks ago.

Both Texas and Seattle were thought to be realistic landing spots for Ohtani, but not anymore. The Los Angeles Dodgers remain the likely destination for Ohtani, but that won’t directly impact the Angels ability to compete in their division.
