Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers Expects To Land 25-Year-Old Starter From Former Team (Report)

The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers will reportedly have another interesting off-season together.  Of course, this past off-season saw Rodgers (along with a number of former Packers players) land with the New York Jets.

2023 was clearly a lost season for the Jets, however, they are excited for Rodgers’ potential to play multiple seasons in New York.  To do that, they’ll have to field a competitive roster to encourage Rodgers to stick around.  That will reportedly mean going after a starter in Green Bay this off-season.

Rich Cimini of ESPN listed several players that are worth watching as potential NEW Aaron Rodgers recruits to the Jets in 2024:

Dillon was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2020 draft. Until last week, he hadn’t missed a game in his career due to injury, except for some COVID games as a rookie.

He isn’t quite your prototypical feature back, but Dillon has proven to be a solid No. 2 running back. Through the draft, the Packers might be able to find a new No. 2 for less money and maybe have that person sit behind Jones on the depth chart until he takes over the lead back role in 2025. Although Dillon has looked better lately, he hasn’t established himself as a bonafide No. 1 back to earn a contract extension.

However, the Packers may decide to move on from Jones, re-sign Dillon to a one-year deal and draft someone early to sit behind or share carries with him. However, Dillon and his agent may want a multiyear contract, which the Packers may not be able to provide.

If the Jets offer a multi-year contract, it could be very feasible to see Dillon leave Green Bay after four years.  Rodgers clearly trusts Dillon which is another major piece to the puzzle.  Dillon will be one of the more intriguing players to watch when the 2024 off-season begins.
