Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Tough Competition For This Napoli Star: Is He Worth The Fight?

In a recent interview (via SiamoilNapoli), journalist Salvatore Biazzo claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are facing tough competition for Napoli star Victor Osimhen. Biazzo said,

We need to understand how Osimhen is psychologically after these family events. Now tey also have to deal with the injury. De Laurentiis will want to follow his little gem closely because there arhe various problems around

“Liverpool? In the Premier League there is a merciless fight between different teams with Arsenal, City and Tottenham. Liverpool are a historic team and could want a striker like Osimhen, but I see the financial exposure of English clubs and Liverpool are placed high in the ranking of those who have debts.”

Osimhen’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A

Osimhen has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Naples club as he has been responsible for putting in a run of productive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Nigerian talent has banged in six goals and earned one assist in ten appearances for the Italian outfit this season across all competitions.

The 24-year-old has led the line well and deserves credit for averaging 4.1 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has been a bit untidy when linking up play in the opponent’s half, based on his pass success rate of 75% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

Osimhen has proven himself to be an excellent finisher in the final third. He can use his strong 1.86m frame to win his fair share of aerial duels as well. The Nigeria international can even create a few decent openings for his teammates in and around the opposition penalty box. However, he needs to work on improving his passing accuracy on the attacking end of the field.

Osimhen would add a lot of firepower to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He would even help Spurs challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons. Hence, Osimhen will be well worth the fight, so the North London club should focus on stepping up their chase for the Napoli star next year.
