Steelers Among Favorites to Land Kyler Murray
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers used a first-round pick on a quarterback just last year, but if an opportunity presents itself in the offseason, there’s a belief they’d make a move for a former first-overall pick to add to their room.
With Kyler Murray’s future with the Arizona Cardinals up in the air, there’s some debate he could land with another team in 2024. If that’s the case, the Steelers are one of the top five teams believed to bring in the five-year pro.
At BetOnline.ag, the Steelers currently have 9/1 odds, tied with the Washington Commanders, to land Murray by next season. They trail just the New England Patriots (5/1), Tennessee Titans (11/2), New York Giants (6/1) and Atlanta Falcons (7/1).
Murray is expected to make his 2023 debut this week after missing the first half of the season while recovering from ACL surgery. The former first-round pick has played 57 games since being drafted in 2019, throwing for 13,848 yards and 84 touchdowns to 41 interceptions. He also has 23 rushing touchdowns.
The two-time Pro Bowler is 25-31-1 as a starter with the Cardinals but did help them earn two winning seasons in 2020 and 2021.
The Steelers don’t appear to be anything but optimistic about Kenny Pickett and where his ceiling may be once he’s fully developed. So, if the opportunity to land Murray came knocking, it’s certainly a debate on whether or not they’d consider it.
