Rory Wilson has been called up to Scotland U21s after a fine start to the season with Aston Villa’s U18s.

The 17-year-old has scored 11 goals in seven U18 appearances so far this season. He found the net four goals in Villa’s 7-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at Bodymoor Heath last month, before bagging a hat-trick in the club’s 4-0 win over Tottenham and scoring a brace in Villa’s 2-0 victory at Southampton.Rangers still hoping Rory Wilson will extend Ibrox stay despite likes ...

After scoring in 3-3 draw with Leicester City last month, Wilson then captained Villa’s U18s to a 3-1 win over Reading last time out, where he netted in consecutive league games. He was called up to the Scotland U19s for the October international break and started in the 2-0 defeat against Ireland in Spain on Wednesday.

ilson has since been promoted to Scot Gemmill’s U21 side ahead of a UEFA U21 Championship qualifier against Malta at Fir Park on Tuesday.

Wilson has featured for Scotland’s U17, U19 and U21s, collecting a total of 18 caps for his country at those levels. He has already made two appearances for Scotland U21s having come off the bench in games against Northern Ireland last year.

The striker arrived at Villa last summer after he left Rangers on the back of an impressive season where he scored 49 goals for club and country in 2021/22. Wilson signed his first professional contract with Villa last year and the Premier League club are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal when he turns 18 in January.
