Big Injury Development for Warriors Player Revealed

The Golden State Warriors could be getting this player back soon
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II has missed the last two games with a left foot injury, but the versatile guard could be nearing a return. Speaking with reporters at Tuesday’s practice, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Payton went through a scrimmage, and is questionable for Wednesday night vs. the Phoenix Suns.

This is a big injury development, as both Payton’s participation in the scrimmage and his questionable status indicate a return is near. The Warriors put out a statement on Payton’s injury just a few days ago that read the following:

Trail Blazers Guard Gary Payton II Set to Return Soon? - Blazer's Edge

“Warriors guard Gary Payton II, who exited Thursday’s game with 9:30 remaining in the second quarter due to a left foot injury, underwent an MRI. The MRI did not show any structural damage and confirmed the injury as a strained muscle in his left foot. Payton will not play in tonight’s game against Oklahoma City and will be re-evaluated over the weekend.”

All signs point towards Payton having made positive progress since this initial encouraging update that revealed no structural damage was found in his foot. A key piece to what the Warriors do on both ends of the floor, Payton should be back in the rotation soon – and possibly even by Golden State’s next game.

This matchup vs. the Suns will be a great test for a Warriors team looking to find their groove.
