After each Ohio State win in 2023, we will select one offensive Buckeye and one defensive Buckeye with distinguished honors.

Following Ohio State’s 38-3 win over Michigan State in Week 11, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is the Eleven Warriors offensive player of the game, and cornerback Davison Igbinosun is the defensive player of the game.

Harrison earns his fourth Eleven Warriors offensive player of the game award after a performance in which he racked up seven receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns and added one carry for 19 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

As our own Dan Hope wrote after Ohio State’s win, the star receiver’s stellar effort was a statement that Harrison belongs in the Heisman Trophy conversation as one of the best players in all of college football. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and quarterback Kyle McCord made that known on Saturday.

“He is a special player. … And I know (stats will) be part of the conversation, but the award is for the most outstanding player, not just the player with the most stats,” Day said.

Added McCord, “If it’s truly the award that goes to the best player, he has to be right there in contention.”

This season, Harrison has collected 59 receptions for 1,063 yards and 13 total touchdowns across 10 appearances. On Saturday, he became the first player in Ohio State history to record 1,000 receiving yards in multiple seasons. He also tied David Boston for the most career 100-yard receiving games in program history with 14.

Igbinosun earns his first Eleven Warriors defensive player of the game award in 2023 after collecting a team-leading five tackles and two pass breakups against the Spartans. Igbinosun was one of the clear leaders on Ohio State’s defense, which was without Tommy Eichenberg, Lathan Ransom and Josh Proctor in the contest.

Ten games into his first season at Ohio State, Igbinosun has shown consistency and competitiveness out of the Buckeyes’ second cornerback spot behind Denzel Burke. This fall, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back has recorded 45 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and five pass breakups — respectable numbers for a relatively inexperienced player entering the season.

Harrison and Igbinosun are the 10th pair of Buckeyes to be named Eleven Warriors players of the game in 2023. We will keep a running chart of all the recipients as the season continues, with the individual awards to be posted on our social media accounts and the website each Sunday after an Ohio State win.
