Cardiff City underwent another managerial change in the summer, after another near-miss with relegation.
Sabri Lamouchi steered Cardiff City to Championship safety in the end. Many expected him to stay on for this 2023/24 campaign but he left, and was eventually replaced by Turkish coach Erol Bulut.
His side have had a mixed start to the season with some good and some bad performances, with the Bluebirds having just one league win to their name so far.
It comes after another minor exodus of players in the summer, with several first-team players leaving along with a number of youth players.
Here we look at where the 12 players who left Cardiff City last season are at now…
Dillon Phillips
Dillon Phillips never really kicked on at Cardiff City despite proving himself to be a very worthy Championship goalkeeper. Soon after his release, he was signed by Rotherham United.
Tom Sang
Former Manchester United youngster Tom Sang is another who perhaps didn’t fulfil his potential with Cardiff City; he’s now playing in League One for Port Vale.
Gavin Whyte
Northern Ireland international Gavin Whyte was a good servant for Cardiff City. But the time came for him to move on and he’s another who ended up in League One, having signed for Portsmouth.
Connor Wickham
Experienced striker Connor Wickham remains a free agent following his Cardiff release at the end of last season.
Mark Harris
The club remained in negotiations with Mark Harris upon the expiry of his contract. But he eventually left as a free agent and signed with League One hopefuls Oxford United where he’s scored three in six league appearances this season.
And here’s where the released former Cardiff City youngsters have ended up…
Jac Clay – without a club
Taylor Jones – Cambrian & Clydach Vale
Sebastian Kristensen – Ishoj IF (Denmark)
Jack Leahy – Hornchurch FC
Aidan MacNamara – without a club
Lennon Peake – without a club
Owen Pritchard – Pontypridd United
