The 49ers Enterprises have delivered on the promises they made following the takeover of Leeds United, with a £30.7million transfer spend despite doubts emerging over their summer business.
Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe made a promise that he would be aggressive in the transfer market and that they would look to build Daniel Farke a squad capable of putting in a strong push for promotion this season [Yorkshire Post, 18 July].
It was a slow start to the summer at Elland Road, on top of seeing a number of players leave the club, which led to concerns being raised about whether the 49ers could meet the high expectations they set themselves.
With the exodus of star players from Elland Road always likely to cause issues when it came to squad building, with uncertainty around a number of positions, the business done over the summer looks to be an overall positive.
Transfers like the £10.5million, possibly raising to £16million, spent on former Swansea striker Joel Piroe saw some fantastic business conducted and led to an overall £30.7million spend from the new owners who looked to give Farke all the players he needed.
A late move for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev from Werder Bremen saw them strengthen the main problem position which had caused debate over their spending with a lack of reinforcements arriving before the final day saw both additions come in.

Both Karl Darlow and Ethan Ampadu have impressive reputations that will add their expertise to a young Leeds side, while they also utilised the loan market effectively with both Djed Spence and Joe Rodon arriving temporarily from Tottenham.
Lastly, the latest piece of business in the transfer window saw Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony arrive on loan from Bournemouth as a makeweight in the deal for Luis Sinisterra to head the other way, and he has already shown what he can offer in the Championship.
Overall it looks like it has been a successful transfer window for Leeds despite early reservations and the exodus of key players, as the 49ers have done everything possible to plug gaps and reduce losses as they plan for a strong season.
