Leicester transfer news: Maddison Tielemans and other exits

‘5/10’, ‘Lethargic’, ‘Sloppy’: Local media criticises £12m Chelsea loanee after last night’s display

Chelsea fans were extremely optimistic in the summer when Cesare Casadei was loaned out to Leicester City.

Unfortunately, the £12million midfielder (The Guardian) has had a bit of a frustrating start at the King Power Stadium and that continued last night.

Leicester returned to the top of the Championship table on Friday evening by thrashing Southampton 4-1 at St Mary’s, underlining their credentials as promotion favourites.

Cesare Casadei, who’s only 20, came off the bench for the Foxes for the fourth straight league match. The Chelsea loanee struggled to make the most of just over half an hour on the pitch, though.

The local media certainly wasn’t too kind when assessing Casadei’s cameo performance during the second half against Southampton.

Leicestershire Live wrote: “He looked a little lethargic went he first came onto the pitch and his passing was sloppy. Picked up a little after 10 or 15 minutes. 5/10.”

In Casadei’s defence, it must be very difficult for him to build up any rhythm in his game when he keeps being overlooked for the starting line-up.

The Italian youngster is a very talented box-to-box midfielder we think can be a big hit in the Championship, but he’s in difficult position of trying to break into a very strong Leicester XI.

He scored a winning goal against Cardiff City on his first league appearances for the Foxes. The manager still won’t start him in the league, though.

As the fixtures begin to pile up during a hectic Championship season, Casadei’s opportunities should increase and he needs to be ready to seize them.

The Athletic claimed a few months ago that Casadei did impress at Chelsea when training alongside the first team. Therefore, Leicester supporters would be wise to stick with the young loanee because he’s got real talent.
