Breaking News: Alabama’s star players suffer a serious injury blow following their victory against Kentucky

Nick Saban gives injury update after Alabama’s win over Kentucky

Linebacker Deontae Lawson and Jaylen Key were each held out from the game due to injuries from the LSU game, but the Crimson Tide were also without wide receivers Ja’Corey Brooks (shoulder) and Jermaine Burton (illness).

As it currently stands Lawson and Key will remain day-to-day and Saban is confident Burton will bounce back from quickly after missing the game.

“We had more guys out today than probably ever before with Ja’Corey Brooks and Jermaine Burton,” Saban said. “Jermaine is just sick. I mean he was so sick he couldn’t even make the trip. Hopefully, he’ll get better and that won’t be a long-term thing. Ja’Corey has a shoulder.

“Jaylen Key everyone knows has got a thigh injury, it’ll be day-to-day again this week same thing with Lawson. So we’ll just have to see how it goes.”

Missing Key and Lawson forced Saban and Alabama to make several adjustments defensively prior to the game as play-calling duties were handed off to Tresmen Marshall at linebacker along with Kristian Story and Trey Amos playing bigger roles on the back end.

Overall Saban was pleased with the effort he got from the adjustments.

“The guys who filled in today and took their place and we had to shift guys around in the secondary, but I thought Trezmen Marshall, who has been hurt himself, did a good job today, so did Jihaad,” Saban said. “Those guys got some valuable experience and that’s gonna help us down the road.”
