amura’s red-hot form has caught the eye of a host of European clubs.

The LASK midfielder enjoyed a remarkable campaign in the Austrian Bundesliga, registering 14 goals and four assists.

Liverpool, Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund are among the teams that have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old this summer.

Following the success of Brighton attacker Kaoru Mitoma, we consider whether Nakamura could be the next Japanese player to rise to stardom.

European dream

Nakamura revealed that he has always wanted to play in Europe — and while he has already made an impact in Austria, he has the ability to rise to an even higher level.

He said: “I can’t speak for everyone in Japan, but a lot of players want to come and play in Europe, it’s kind of a dream.

“Of course, I check the news about those who have done it, but I can’t say that any one of them has been a big influence.

“Rather than caring about them, I prefer to focus on myself.”

Attacking threat

Nakamura showed a keen eye for goal last season.

LASK’s No38 scored 14 times in 31 league appearances, taking 89 shots on goal and averaging 3.20 efforts per 90 minutes.

He operates mainly on the left wing, where he excels at cutting on to his right foot to strike at goal or whip a cross into the box after beating his man.

He recorded four assists, fired 66 crosses into the box and drew 35 fouls with his quick feet.
