The England U19 man enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last time round, managing to rack up eight Championship appearances whilst asserting himself as a very promising youngster in the Rovers ranks.

He’s had suitors in the past, with the likes of Manchester United and Spurs both linked last season, and it now looks like the latter are about to poach him from Blackburn Rovers.

A tough summer

Tottenham Hotspur 'beat Manchester United, Chelsea to Ashley Phillips' - Sports MoleAt the start of the summer, it really looked like Blackburn Rovers were making an effort in the market.

They signed some decent players and set the tone for the rest of the summer. But after the recent revelation regarding Tomasson, and now this news of Phillips, it looks like the club could be in a bit of turmoil.

Phillips is a very talented and prosperous player and £3million for him seems very low indeed. But for the player, it’s obviously a great move and he’ll no doubt go on to have a bright career in the game.

Tomasson will be hoping at the very least that this money can be put towards new signings, with Rovers now looking quite low on centre-back options.
