Aston Villa’s 25-man Premier League squad named with one player missing

Aston Villa have submitted their 25-man squad to the Premier League for the 2023/24 campaign.

Kortney Hause is not included in the 25-man senior squad despite being contracted to the club for two more years, while Caleb Chukwuemeka has not been named in the under-21 player list. Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia both suffered long-term knee injuries last month, but are still included in Unai Emery’s squad.

Villa have started the season with two wins and two defeats in the league. After losing 5-1 to Newcastle United on the opening weekend, they then beat Everton and Burnley, before losing 3-0 to Liverpool last time out.

Emery’s side also progressed to the group stage of the Europa Conference League between wins over Everton and Burnley by thrashing Hibernian 8-0 on aggregate across two play-off legs. The Villa boss wants his side to compete on all fonts this season and recruited five new players to improve the depth in his ranks.

Youri Tielemans Pau Torres, Moussa Diaby, Nicolo Zaniolo and Clement Lenglet all joined the club this summer, while Cameron Archer, Wesley, Jaden Philogene, Aaron Ramsey, Keinan Davis, Philippe Coutinho, Marvelous Nakamaba and Morgan Sanson left the first-team squad.
