Burnley man sends warning to Nottingham Forest ahead of Premier League clash

The latest Nottingham Forest news as the Reds return to action on Monday night as they take on newly-promoted Burnley at the City Ground.

Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill has warned Nottingham Forest that his team will be going out for the win when they travel to the City Ground on Monday (7.45pm kick-off).

The Clarets have had a difficult start to life back in the Premier League, having lost all three games they have played so far. Vincent Kompany’s men sit bottom of the table on goal difference after losing 5-2 to Tottenham in their last outing.

Forest host Burnley after a two week international break. Unlike their opposition, the Reds go into the game full of confidence. Steve Cooper ’s men were 1-0 winners at Chelsea in their last game

But Brownhill has hinted that Forest’s Stamford Bridge result will not phase him and his teammates as they go in search of their first win of the season.

“We’ve had a really tough start. You go in there [the dressing room] and the lads are going to be down, rightfully so, because we didn’t put out our best performance,” he said after the loss against Tottenham, via Burnley Express .

“But it’s a long season, it’s a tough one. It’s completely different to last season, so we’ve got to stick with it, keep learning, but we’ve also got to take it up another level because this is what the Premier League is.

“There’s a little bit of a break now, which is a chance to relax and come back with a game against Forest, which is a big game for us where we’ll 100% be going out for the win.”

Burnley earned promotion by winning the Championship last season in what was Kompany’s first season in charge of the club. They have signed 15 new players over the summer, and Brownhill has a message about the Premier League to his new teammates.

“We’ve recruited some quality players, you can see it in spells. On the ball individually they’re very good,” he added.

But sometimes it’s out of possession, it’s about reacting and doing things without the ball, but they’re going to learn.

“We’re new still. In the Championship you can get away with a little bit of a slow start because the quality isn’t as good, whereas here if you give the ball away, the next second you can be 1-0 down and 2-0 down.

“There’s some young lads in there and they’ll learn from this. It’s down to us experienced lads who have been here before to realise we’ve got to keep believing.”
