Cardiff City head coach Erol Bulut says Ryan Allsop made it clear he wanted to leave the principality and make a move to Championship rivals Hull City. Hull Live revealed on Saturday morning that Allsop had agreed a deal to join City with an announcement expected early this week in advance of Friday night’s 11pm transfer deadline.

City will pay Cardiff a nominal fee to secure the services of the 31-year-old goalkeeper who has just one year left on his contract in South Wales, having arrived from Derby County 12 months earlier. Allsop is a player well known to Tigers head coach Liam Rosenior, with the pair working together at Pride Park, and Rosenior rates the experienced stopper highly, particularly his ability to slot into his style of footbal

Rosenior has been searching for a challenger to number one Matt Ingram since Karl Darlow returned to Newcastle United after the final day draw at Luton Town in May following a successful loan spell before he moved on a permanent deal to City’s Yorkshire rivals Leeds United

The former Rams goalkeeper started 44 of the Bluebirds’ 46 Championship games last season but picked up an injury in pre-season and has found himself below Jak Alnwick and new signing Alex Runarsson in Bulut’s pecking order.

“If somebody wants to leave, we don’t keep anybody here,” the Turkish boss said. “We got that message [that he wanted to leave], it was not from our side, it was from his management’s side

“If somebody wants to leave, we don’t keep anybody here. So for that shirt, you have to fight. He did it in the years before, but his management brought something like this instead. So then we’ll make also our move for a goalkeeper and we took Alex Runarsson on loan. And then we let [Allsopp] go.”

Allsop’s arrival along with confirmation of Jaden Philogene’s permanent move from Aston Villa will spark a flurry of activity in the final few days of the window, with as many as five players expected to join the Tigers.
