Cardiff City star has contract ended with immediate effect as club issue blunt 16-word statement

The club have issued a short statement after one player’s contract has ended

Jack Simpson has left Cardiff City by mutual consent as the club issued a blunt 16-word message to signal his departure.

Simpson has failed to find form after joining following his exit from Rangers a year ago and it was understood that the Bluebirds were looking for suitors in the transfer window.

However, Cardiff have been forced to find a way to get Simpson out of his contract, with all parties seemingly agreeing that the centre-back would be better off elsewhere.

“We can confirm that Jack Simpson has today left Cardiff City Football Club by mutual consent,” was the curt message posted on Cardiff’s club website.

Simpson, 26 and a product of the Bournemouth academy, played 23 games for Cardiff but struggled for the most part

Cardiff are keen to bolster their defence before Friday night’s 11pm deadline, with manager Erol Bulut stating that at least one centre- back is needed before the window closes.
