Daka deal broke down
Bournemouth’s inability to move on Kieffer Moore on deadline day saw a move for Leicester City’s Patson Daka break down.
The Athletic report the Foxes striker was destined to join the Cherries but the switch was pulled after the south coast club were unable to shift Wales striker Moore.
There was certainly plenty of interest in the frontman, not least on deadline day itself, when Norwich City and Millwall both made attempts to sign him. Cardiff were of course in the mix but their inability to pay a fee for players due to the terms of their partial transfer embargo made matters all the more complicated.
Cardiff man Romaine Sawyers is reportedly attracting interest from Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Sawyers is surplus to requirements in the Welsh capital, with manager Erol Bulut happy to let the midfielder go. A deadline-day move to Rotherham United failed to materialise but he could still yet depart, with transfer windows still open in different parts of the world. Israel’s transfer window remains open until September 20.
“I had a conversation with him and I was clear with him and I will not hide it here, he was in the national team, came back and had one game. We now have many players in midfield so I told him for his good he should go try to find a club,” Bulut said of Sawyers last month.
“If he does not get minutes here at the age of 31 it would be best if he takes a look at another club to leave, to play at least another four or five years as he is planning to play to at least 35/36. He has spoken to his agent, I think he is trying. He will find something because he is a good player, he is a very good player.”
Ramsey: Weight off the shoulders
Aaron Ramsey says he feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders since returning to boyhood club Cardiff.
The Wales skipper rejoined the Bluebirds on a free transfer after a difficult few years which saw him represent Juventus, Rangers and French club Nice. Being back in his homeland and closer to family has meant we have seen a more relaxed and contented player and man.
“I just feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder,” he said. “I’m feeling a lot more free. That definitely helps on the pitch.
“It has been difficult being away from the family but you need that balance right to be able to enjoy every aspect, and I feel like I’m enjoying every moment now. I’m looking forward to doing the school run, having three boys screaming in the car in the morning. I’m glad they’re going back to school! I’m absolutely buzzing to be back and getting stuck into the family things as well.”
Cardiff’s Rubin Colwill trained with the senior Wales squad on Monday morning at the Vale.
Colwill was initially named in the under-21s squad last week and hasn’t at this stage been officially promoted back to the seniors.
He and 17-year-old Charlie Crew were involved in Rob Page’s training session, with Tom Lockyer pulling out through injury.
