Summer signing makes Nottingham Forest prediction after transfer window overhaul - Nottinghamshire Live

1-year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder close to leaving the club on loan

Nottingham Forest midfielder Remo Freuler is close to leaving the club, to join Serie A side Bologna on loan with an option to buy.

The ‘complete‘ midfielder joined the Reds last summer from Atalanta, coming with a lot of praise from his former side.

Freuler was given the nickname ‘the conductor’ for his ability to control the play from deep positions in midfield, however, his time at Forest hasn’t gone as either party would’ve expected.

It is clear that the 31-year-old is a talented player, but his playstyle unfortunately isn’t suited to the Premier League.

A move back to Serie A can potentially put the Swiss international’s career back on track after a disappointing 12 months at the City Ground.

A good move all-round

The experienced midfielder hasn’t played a game for Nottingham Forest since the 3-2 defeat away at Liverpool in April, with Danilo, Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates all being preferred to Freuler.

It would be a good move for all parties if Forest could offload the 31-year-old. He’s a talented footballer, but unfortunately for him, he just doesn’t suit the system that Steve Cooper wants to deploy and Bologna now want him.

The deal for Freuler wouldn’t be linked with Nicolas Dominguez, an Argentinian box-to-box midfielder that the Reds are trying to sign.

However, it may be used to soften any blow for the Italian side should Dominguez leave the club this window.

Forest remain in talks with Bologna for the 25-year-old, but it seems as though he may prefer a move to Galatasaray to play European football this campaign.
