Crystal Palace swoop for Airdrie midfield ace

Justin Devenny has made the switch to the English Premier League side

Crystal Palace have signed Airdrie midfielder Justin Devenny, making him the first player to move from the club to the English top flight since Sandy Clark joined West Ham in 1982.

The 19-year-old joined the New Broomfield club on loan from Kilmarnock in February 2022.

Although appearances were initially sporadic, new boss Rhys McCabe swooped for Devenny when he left Rugby Park that summer, and the midfielder played a key role in the Diamonds’ promotion to the Championship last season, making a total of 54 appearances for Airdrie.

Devenny told the Crystal Palace website: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here at Crystal Palace

“It’s a big step up, but I can’t wait to get started.

“The facilities are amazing and I’m really looking forward to it.”
