Dallas Cowboys Fall In NFL Week 9 Power Rankings; Micah vs. CeeDee as Team MVP?

The Dallas Cowboys suffered their third loss of the season in Week 8 in the form of a 28-23 debilitating loss to the rival Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are the league’s last remaining one-loss team, and according to ESPN, the best in the NFL.

But where is Dallas in the power rankings heading into Week 9?

The Cowboys dropped five places from No. 4 to No. 9 after the loss at Philly, and ESPN also indicated wideout CeeDee Lamb is the team’s midseason non-quarterback MVP.

“Lamb is on pace to set Cowboys records for catches (121) and yards (1,751) in a single season, surpassing Hall of Famer Michael Irvin. He has put up back-to-back 150-receiving-yard games, the first Dallas receiver to do that since Miles Austin in 2009. He has 14 100-yard receiving games in his career, trailing only Hall of Famer Bob Hayes (15). Despite the extra attention from defenses, Lamb is still making a ton of plays whether lining up outside or in the slot. — Todd Archer

Quarterback Dak Prescott is likely in that conversation, too, (as is Micah Parsons) and he had maybe his best game statistically in the loss to the Eagles on Sunday … but he was not flawless.

Prescott completed 29-of-44 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns. But he also missed crucial reads that could’ve influenced the outcome of the game. Lamb also had a benchmark day with 11 catches for 191 yards on 16 targets. None of that was enough to get past the NFC East-leading Eagles, who now lead Dallas by two full games in the division, plus the tiebreaker.

Prescott and the Cowboys will look for a “get right” game against the New York Giants on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. New York will want revenge for a 40-0 loss to the Cowboys in Week 1.
