Report: Deal for Spurs has ‘advanced a lot’ – Levy seems to be getting his way
Sport have reported that a deal to take Clement Lenglet from Barcelona to Tottenham has now ‘advanced a lot’, with the La Liga side ready to give in.
Lenglet spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Tottenham, although he was part of a defence that let in goals for fun in the Premier League.
Despite this, and Spurs changing managers in 2023, it appears the Lilywhites remain keen on bringing the Frenchman back to North London on a more permanent deal.
Barcelona ready to give in to Tottenham demands
Sport claim that there is now a sense of optimism this deal will go through, and Barcelona ‘know they will have to give in’ to get Lenglet’s wages off their books.
This would imply that things are going the way of Tottenham and Daniel Levy in any negotiations, as the Lilywhites look for a bargain signing.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I’m really not sure whether I see Lenglet fitting in with the Postecoglou shape, unless he fills in as a defensive left-back at times.
As long as Spurs sign a couple of other centre-backs, I am fine with it. But Lenglet being one of the two new defensive signings would be a mistake I think.
