West Ham set to seal two new signings within 72 hours, with Mavropanos and Kudus in line
West Ham are expected to complete two new signings in the next 72 hours, with Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos and Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus frontrunners, according to WestHamFootball.
The editor of West Ham site 6foot2 shared via his Twitter account on 17 August that the first of the two deals could be sealed by the club within 48 hours.
Mavropanos has been linked with a £15million move in recent days, with the player reportedly seeing his destiny in the Premier League [Kicker, 16 August], while Kudus has been the subject of interest from Chelsea which could cause West Ham to accelerate the deal [Ryan Taylor, 17 August].
Two fantastic additions
If West Ham pull off their expectation of completing these two deals within 72 hours, they will have pulled off a fantastic deal in improving their squad depth while adding serious quality to positions that they need to improve.
Mavropanos will arrive following the breakdown of talks in the Hammers’ £30million move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, as the club look to add strength in depth at the back ahead of their upcoming Europa League campaign.
Kudus, meanwhile, will be a brilliant signing at the London Stadium. The highly-rated midfielder has been targeted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and if West Ham can pull it off they will have recruited one of the biggest prospects in European football.
The Hammers are looking to improve their squad overall following the sale of Declan Rice, and the possible exit of Lucas Paqueta, and these two deals will be an excellent way to do so. They are looking to be competitive across all four competitions they will compete in this season.
In other West Ham news, the club may have been given respite as Manchester City chase another midfielder.
