“There are many things to do, for sure, probably in the last third we need to improve and to add things,” he told FoxesHub , after being named as August’s Championship manager of the month. “Our seven official game, they all show that we arrive quite easy in the last third, then probably because of the choice, or because we want to finish the action soon, probably we are wrong in some choices.

“But even there, when we arrive there, we need to be patient to find the right solution. It is something that, for sure, we are going to improve.”

Maresca has had some extra time to work with his non-international players over the international break. Players who are currently on international duty will return to the squad in the upcoming week.

City are back in action on Friday night when they take on fellow relegated side Southampton. The Saints also fell to defeat before the international break, losing 5-0 vs Sunderland.
