Everton deal for Hugo Ekitike ‘could be done quickly’ after a firm offer was placed

Everton could sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike quickly after an offer of around £25.9million was sent to the French Champions, according to journalist Bruno Salomon.

The Radio France journalist, who is followed by Fabrizio Romano, shared via his Twitter page on 10 August that the striker is considering the move, and if he gives the green light the move could be done quickly.

This report comes following an update from Alan Myers [10 August] in which he urged fans not to be overly excited due to the level of interest in Ekitike, as a number of clubs are after his signature

Everton making moves

With only a couple of days left before the Premier League season kicks off, it seems to have placed some urgency in the minds of Everton bosses, who have moved quickly to secure deals for players including Ekitike in the last few days.

The club have also been linked with a move for Leeds United forward Willy Gnotno, with whom they have reportedly agreed personal terms which could see the player push through a move to Goodison Park despite his club’s reluctance to sell.

Sean Dyche is keen on strengthening his squad up front, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering consistent injury issues while Neal Maupay’s profligacy is a concern. The Toffees scored just 34 goals in the Premier League last season and will be looking to improve this time around.

Ekitike presents an exciting option to Everton, as the 21-year-old joined French giants PSG just a year ago for a fee of around £24.5million. Their keenness to let him go so soon is not an indictment on his quality, as boss Luis Enrique is a fan of his, but more that the club need to let players go.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has delivered a new transfer update.
