Sources: Everton plan to let Andre Gomes leave

Everton are planning to let Andre Gomes leave the club in 2024, sources have told Football Insider.

The 30-year-old is yet to play a single minute this season due to injury and is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The ex-Portugal international spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Lille and is not seen as key to Everton’s plans going forward as he struggles to recover from multiple injury issues.

Sean Dyche has given no timeframe as to when he could next be available play, amid fears that his problems are chronic and he could struggle to reach his previous level ever again.

Gomes is also a big earner, with his contract believed to be worth around £120,000-a-week.

The midfielder last played for Everton in May 2022.

He spent the following campaign at Lille, making 27 appearances and registering three goals and two assists.

However, the French side decided against pursuing a permanent move for the Benfica youth product.

Gomes has made 100 total appearances for Everton since joining the club from Barcelona on an initial loan in 2018.

The ex-Valencia man cost £22million after impressing in that temporary spell and signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park.

Amadou Onana, James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye and Tyler Onyango are among the current midfield options for Sean Dyche’s side.

Everton sit 15th and five points clear of the relegation zone despite a difficult summer transfer window which saw them make just two permanent signings.

The Toffees are next in action against Brighton on Saturday (4 November).
