Alex Iwobi could be outcasted by Sean Dyche amid £46m news at Fulham

Fulham are eyeing a late move for Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi as he could be surplus to requirements at Goodison Park, according to The Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on its website on 29 August that the Cottagers are targeting the Nigerian international as they look to improve their attacking options following the sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi side Al-Hilal for £46million.

It said the Toffees may sanction a move for the 27-year-old after signing Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison, with the winger potentially falling out of favour under Sean Dyche.

Unlikely

It feels as though a deal to allow Iwobi to leave Goodison Park doesn’t feel very likely at this stage in the transfer window.

Although Everton have managed to bring in a couple of other options out wide in the form of Danjuma and Harrison, Iwobi has been an important player since Dyche arrived at the club.

He has started in every game he’s been available for since the Toffees boss joined in January before picking up an injury in the defeat against Aston Villa that sidelined him for the loss at home to Wolves on Saturday (26 August).

Unless Fulham come in with a big offer for the midfielder, then it’s unlikely the Blues will even consider sanctioning a deal with such little time left to get a replacement in.

The Cottagers do have the money in the bank following the sale of Mitrovic, though, so it will be interesting to see whether or not they decide to firm up their interest and make an offer over the next few days.

In other Everton news, a new board is set to decide whether or not one player will leave Goodison in this window.
