Xavier Simons sends Hull City message after impressive Fleetwood Town debut

The highly-rated youngster is spending the season on loan in League One

Xavier Simons is determined to grasp the chance to play regular football over the next few months after joining Fleetwood Town on loan for the season and return to the MKM Stadium capable of playing regularly in the first team.

Simons was allowed to move to Highbury after Hull City signed Tyler Morton from Liverpool on deadline day, with Tigers head coach Liam Rosenior keen for the 20-year-old to play regular football at a good standard.

The former Chelsea youngster wants to use the League One season to build up his confidence, and experience, to return to the MKM Stadium next summer capable of challenging for a place in Rosenior’s side.

“I found out I was going on loan and there were a few other clubs that came in, but Fleetwood came in and I wanted to come here and show what I was about, you guys play good football and I want to be a part of that. There was a role for me to play here and I wanted to take that with both hands,” he told Fleetwood’s website.

“I want to show the world, and Fleetwood, what I can do whilst helping the team as much as I can. I moved to Hull to be a part of that squad, now I’m here to show what I can do This is the perfect opportunity to build on my games as it will help me in the long run. It’s an opportunity, and when I go back I’m ready to start for them and do what I can do at Hull.

Owing to the unique nature of football, Simons’ deal was agreed when Scott Brown was Town manager, but after a 2-1 defeat at Charlton left them bottom of the table last weekend, Brown was sacked before the City youngster had even kicked a ball for his new club.

“It’s an experience I haven’t had before, I spoke to Scott [Brown] before coming to the club, but the club is where I want to be, so whoever comes in next, will be able to help me and I am going to buy into everything that I can, with the players around me, not just the manager. This will allow me to gain the experience I need whilst here,” he added.
