Dogukan Sinik edging closer to Hull City return as boss delivers exciting update

The Turkish international winger has not played for the Tigers since Christmas

Liam Rosenior says Dogukan Sinik is making good progress in his return from injury but is unlikely to feature on the pitch for the Hull City first team until he’s had some exposure in the Under-21s to build up his fitness.

Sinik has not played a competitive game for the Tigers since the Boxing Day draw with Blackpool and finished the season on loan at his former Turkish Super Lig club Antalyaspor, where he played 12 times, scoring three.

The 24-year-old winger missed the final knockings of the league season with a shoulder problem and spent a period of pre-season training at St George’s Park just outside Burton on Trent working with the club’s medical staff.

Rosenior is keen to introduce the Turkish international back into action gradually, as he did with Adama Traore earlier this year, and says he will tread carefully, even though he was named on the bench at Leicester City on Saturday, with City light on numbers.

Dodo’s training,” Rosenior told Hull Live. “We played a practice match on Tuesday, and he came through that really well. It’s been his first week back training fully and he looks really good. The

rehabilitation team have done a really good job in getting him to a level where he can sustain the intensity we work at. It’s taken this long to get him there, but he’s worked really hard in the gym and he’s back training fully with the group which is great.”

Meanwhile, Greg Docherty is edging closer to a return to training as he continues his recovery from a knee ligament injury he picked up in the draw with Hatayspor early in pre-season.

“He’s doing really well. He’s a fantastic professional who is working really hard. I think he’s two or two-and-a-half weeks away from being back in training. He’s worked so hard to come over what was a huge blow for him in pre-season.”
