Anderson confident Rovers are heading in right direction

Tom Anderson insists it was never likely there would be an overnight transformation at Rovers but feels there have significant strides in recent weeks.

Rovers are still searching for a first league win of the season but performances over the last fortnight have been particularly positive.

Anderson said the scale of change in personnel for the club over the summer meant there was always likely to be a bedding in period for the squad.

“It takes time and we have brought in quite a few different players and a few left,” he said. “That just doesn’t happen overnight.

“We’re a great group of lads who want to work and get better every day. I think we’re showing that with the performances but as we know in football it’s all about results  so we need to keep the performances going and start getting results.”

The 30-year-old says he continues to be driven by the desire to win promotion with Rovers and is confident that can be achieved this term.

He said: “I think that’s what drives me. I’ve been with the gaffer the last time in the play-offs in League One, under Darren Moore pushing to go top of League One.

“Now we’re in League Two and that’s football, it happens. But you have to make sure you set yourself goals and a massive one for me is to help the club and myself personally to win a promotion and get back into League One.”

Rovers head to promotion favourites Wrexham this weekend and Anderson says they will do so with confidence.

“It’s a big challenge,” he said. “There’s a lot of big teams in this league and there’s challenges every week.

“We’ll respect them. They’re a good team and have got an unbelievable squad but we’ll play with no fear. We don’t fear anybody. We just need to go there, play our game and do what we’re good at.”
