Exeter City Set To Secure Premier League Striker Deal

Exeter City are set to secure the services of Luton Town striker Admiral Muskwe on a season-long loan, according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Fleetwood Town, scoring three goals in 12 League One appearances. Exeter are on the lookout for a new striker to combat the loss of talisman Sam Nombe, who joined Championship side Rotherham United earlier today.

Having joined Luton in 2021 from Leicester City, Muskwe has made just 26 appearances, with his only two goals coming in cup competitions. With the Hatters now a Premier League club, the front-man knows that a temporary move away was his best chance at securing minutes.

It has been claimed that Gary Caldwell’s team faced competition from a number of EFL clubs to secure the deal and there is a hope that he could be involved in Saturday’s trip to Burton Albion.

Journalist Darren Witcoop had also suggested the possibility of a deal being struck between Exeter and Rotherham, after Rotherham held previous interest in replacing Chiedozie Ogbene with Muskwe, opting for Nombe instead:

Writer’s View:

Sam Nombe was a key figure in Exeter’s recent successes since joining in 2021 and it was always going to be a struggle to replace him.

However, with Muskwe clearly not in Edwards’ plans in the top flight, it is a move that makes sense for all parties as the forward holds League One pedigree and has a point to prove after struggling for game time recently.
