Finance Expert shares ‘huge’ legal battle verdict after Leeds United transfer twist with Luis Sinisterra
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Dan Plumley has insisted it was probably best for Leeds United to allow Luis Sinisterra to leave without dragging it out into another “huge legal battle.”
The finance expert admitted that with the past experiences of the club with Jean-Kevin Augustin, they may not have wanted to go down that road again.
Phil Hay reported after Sinisterra’s deadline day exit that the winger had threatened legal action over his contract, something Leeds did not want in the end.
“Potentially,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“You are just aware of the nature of the best you are dealing with, now being a Championship club because if you have players that are desperate to leave and they’re trying to force it and it becomes a legal battle, you then get into those things that you don’t really want to deal with.

“It’s sometimes better to just cut your losses and that then frees up space for somebody else to come.
“A lot of fans don’t want to see certain players go, but if it becomes a battle, then actually in the interest of the club, it’s probably best you move them on without a huge legal battle.
“Leeds have done that in the past and it’s been a messy process, so it’s another example of just where Leeds are at the minute.”
