Steve Cooper signs new Nottingham Forest contract - Nottinghamshire Live

Forest in for striker with £21m release clause but they’ll have to move quickly

Nottingham Forest are still keen to sign Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia this summer but they might have to move quickly. The Reds have been monitoring the talisman since 2022 and he’s now a wanted man.

According to Sky Italia, Dia has a release clause of £21 million in his contract. However, the Reds are going to have to think fast, with that particular clause due to expire at the close of play on Thursday.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Everton are cited with interest too. At this stage, it’s hard to believe that the two clubs have different recruitment teams, given how many players get linked to Forest and the Toffees.

Milan, Gazzetta: nel mirino Boulaye Dia, l'attaccante ha una clausola da 25 milioni

The player is on the back of a fine season for Salernitana in Serie A. Forest were linked with Dia last summer but he wanted to stay in Italy and subsequently, he would go on and score 16 goals.

The Senegal international also registered six assists last season, highlighting that his game isn’t solely about goals. Furthermore, he has 25 caps for his country and has netted six times on the international stage.

Dia could be allowed to move on this summer but after tomorrow they can command a much higher transfer fee. The clock is ticking for the interested parties to get themselves a bargain deal.

Forest still keen to sign Dia this summer

This would be a pretty decent signing for Forest to make. Dia was brilliant in Serie A last season and he caught the eye with some really clinical finishing.

Boulaye Dia - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

At 26-years-old, he fits the profile of the sort of striker that Forest are probably in the market for. Not only that, but he also offers a different option to that of Taiwo Awoniyi.

One negative factor of this potential signing for Forest is the fact that he will likely miss games in January. The African Cup of Nations is on the horizon and several Reds stars will be heading off.

Looking at the bigger picture, Dia would be a cracking signing at £21 million. As a result, the Reds would be wise to stick a bid in before tomorrow’s deadline.
