Wrexham player ratings from 3-0 win over Grimsby Town

WREXHAM made it three wins from three with a brilliant performance against Grimsby Town at the Stok Cae Ras.

The Reds ran out 3-0 winners against the Mariners as they moved up to fourth place in League Two.

While Paul Mullin made a bright start on his return to the starting XI, it was his strike partner Ollie Palmer who put the Reds ahead 21 minutes in.

Will Boyle doubled the Wrexham lead 10 minutes later after he did brilliantly to get his header on target from a wicked ball in from James McClean, who returned from international duty with The Republic of Ireland.

Man of the Match Elliot Lee wrapped the game up in the 79th minute as he swept home Sam Dalby’s low cross into the box.

It was a brilliant performance from Wrexham and here’s how the players rated:

Mark Howard – Did everything that was asked of him, showed a steady pair of hands in goal. 7

Aaron Hayden – Commanding at the back, dealt with everything that came down his channel and could’ve had a goal near the end. 7

Ben Tozer – Good performance at the heart of the defence, lead the backline well. 7

Will Boyle – Lucky to escape a booking early on but doubled Wrexham’s lead with a brilliant header and looked assured throughout. 8

James McClean – Showed his class with his ball in for Boyle’s goal, very good again. 8

Luke Young – Typical Luke Young performance, worked hard to allow others around him to flourish. 7

Tom O’Connor – Dictated how Wrexham played the game, good on the ball and worked hard off it. 7

Elliot Lee – The best player on the pitch, brilliant ball in for Palmer’s goal and added another one to his tally for the season. 9

Ollie Palmer – Put the Reds ahead with a good header and held the ball up well. 7

Paul Mullin – Still not quite at his brilliant best but looked sharp and caused the Grimsby defenders issues throughout. 7

Sam Dalby – Denied by a good save from Eastwood, picked out Lee well for Wrexham’s third. 6

George Evans – Looked good after coming on, linked well with Lee and Fletcher and even dropped into the back three in added time. 7

Steven Fletcher – Looked sharp off the bench, a couple of really nice touches and almost scored a spectacular effort late on. 7
