Hull boss reveals managerial mentor Mark Robins and gives verdict on Coventry City’s promotion credentials
Coventry City opposition view from CoventryLive as Hull boss Liam Rosenior gives his post-match verdict on Friday night’s 1-1 draw
Liam Rosenior has backed his managerial mentor Mark Robins to guide Coventry City to be pushing for promotion again come the end of the Championship season.
The Hull City boss lives down the road from Robins in Derbyshire and has regularly called upon the Sky Blues manager for advice during his young coaching career. And Rosenior had plenty of praise for Coventry after Friday night’s 1-1 draw at the MKM Stadium where the visitors grabbed a first half lead from a Joel Latibeaudiere header from a corner before Aaron Connolly equalised for the Tigers three minutes from time.
Robins felt it had been a really good game between two good sides, resulting in a hard-fought point and probably a fair result on the night. Asked if he agreed, Rosenior said: “I completely agree with him other than a draw is a fair result. In the first half they had a little bit of the upper hand.

“We gave a goal away from a set play which is one of my biggest pet peeves, to be honest because we’ve been really good defending set plays.
“They’re a good side. We just met in the corridor (with Mark Robins) and I actually live just 200 yards from Mark and he’s been really good to me through my coaching career, he’s been someone I’ve called up and asked for advice from.
“They should have four, five or six more points from their performances. They’ve lost one game out of six and they should have won probably three of the games they’ve drawn. They’re going to be right up there at the end of the season.
“So for us to go a goal down and then play our way back into the game – the fans stayed with us and were magnificent, they made a massive difference – for us to dominate in the second half in terms of our pressure, our box entries, I’m really proud of the players.”
