Hull City boss reveals transfer excitement as Tigers prepare for Sheffield Wednesday
The Tigers will face Wednesday in their first home outing of the season this weekend
Liam Rosenior says he’s hugely excited about the potential of new arrivals in the coming days as he finally looks to have solved part of his transfer puzzle.
The Hull City boss believes he is closing on landing two of his top summer targets, and though he would not reveal the identity of the players concerned, its understood both operate in the top half of the pitch and have been tracked all summer by the ambitious Tigers.
Rosenior has so far added four players to his squad during a quiet transfer window up to now, but has spoken frequently about the need to be patient as he looks to bring in the specific targets he has identified, and in the final three weeks of the window, the club’s hard work behind the scenes is on the cusp of being made public.
News of the Tigers’ breakthrough will come as a welcome boost ahead of this weekend’s Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday at the MKM Stadium, as City look to recover from defeat at Norwich on the opening day of the season last Saturday, and the shock Carabao Cup loss against Doncaster Rovers in midweek.

City have plans to bring in as many as five new players before the 11pm deadline on September 1 and while the club have lodged a third bid for Derby County midfielder Max Bird, it’s understood he is not the player Rosenior is hinting about.
“I am telling you now, there is going to be some exciting news coming in the next few days, I can say that with a lot of certainty now, which is why I’m smiling,” a gleeful Rosenior told Hull Live.
“And it’s going to change the whole energy and mood of this club, so I want the fans to turn up on Saturday, get behind the team, get behind me and we’ll give everything we can to make it a positive start to the season.”
Rosenior was all smiles as he arrived inside the media room at City’s Cottingham training ground, and that theme continued when pressed by Hull Live about the pending news.
“You’ll see,” Rosenior said with a grin across the width of his face. “I’m excited for what we’ve done. I can see it because of the talks I’ve been having and the calls I’ve been getting.
“The plans are starting to fall into place and people will start to say ‘ok, now it makes sense’ which I’ve been saying all along anyway.”
